Equipment Required

Prior to enrolling into the recreation baseball program, we want to bring to attention the equipment requirements for all ages.  This reminder will be presented later in the registration as well.

The following is required OR recommended for the respective ages.  PBA will only provide limited equipment not on the list below:

T-Ball

Required:

  • Helmet WITH Full-Face metal guard. Plastic guards, cheek guards, or c-flaps are not permitted for player’s safety
  • Bat
  • Glove
  • Game Pants (Color determined by the coach)
  • Baseball shoes (Recommended, not required for play)

6-8 Machine Pitch

Required:

  • Helmet WITH Full-Face metal guard. Plastic guards, cheek guards, or c-flaps are not permitted for player’s safety
  • Bat
  • Glove
  • Game Pants (Color determined by the coach)
  • Protective Genital Cup (Male Players)
  • Baseball shoes (Recommended, not required for play

9+ Player Pitch

Required:

Uniforms/Bats

UNIFORMS

Each player participating in Spring Rec baseball, will be furnished a Jersey, Hat and Socks which they get to keep. Baseball pants are required and each team decides on the color of pants the team will wear.


BASEBALL BAT

The only restrictions are these:

14U must use a drop -5 or less (-3 or -5) – bat must weigh within 3 to 5 ounces of the length.

15-18U must use a drop -3 – bat must weigh within 3 ounces of the length, and must be stamped BBCOR.

BAT SELECTION CHART

The right bat is the one that lets you generate maximum bat speed. You accomplish this with a bat that’s not too long or too heavy. There are some standard rules of thumb in selecting the appropriate bat length. The charts below offer some guidelines based on age, weight and height:
