All players who reside in the Papillion Lavista School District are eligible to play in PBA. Players outside the district are allowed to play on a first come basis, but can only make up 20% of any PBA team.
Placing your player in the proper Age/Format is important for their development of baseball skills and confidence in playing the game. You do not want them to be overwhelmed by playing above their level and you do not want them to be bored by playing under their level. Consider the following options before registering your player.
|Age / Format||Age / Format|
|4 Year Old's T-Ball||10 Year Old's Player Pitch|
|5 Year Old's T-Ball or Coach Pitch||11 Year Old's Player Pitch|
|6 Year Old's T-Ball or Coach Pitch||12 Year Old's Player Pitch|
|7 Year Old's Machine Pitch||13 Year Olds Player Pitch|
|8 Year Old's Machine Pitch||14 Year Old's Player Pitch|
|9 Year Old's Machine Pitch||15-18 Year Old's Player Pitch|
PBA reserves the right to place players in age groups as needed to facilitate the League. It is our goal to leave players in their age appropriate group and we will only move them if it is necessary.
Players of any age may play in the next older age format group, if there are openings. In order to be considered for the next older age format group, players MUST be registered in the format group they want to play in and indicate "YES" (ON THEIR REGISTRATION) that they want to play in the next older age format group if possible. They may need to be assessed to see if they have the necessary experience to play in the next older age group. Guardians/Parents will be notified if their player cannot play in the age group they are registered in and be refunded the difference if applicable.
All players participating in player pitch age groups, may need to be assessed before they can be placed on a team. Players that attended the Spring Assessment do not need to attend the Fall Assessment.
Players are evaluated in the basic skills of Baseball. Skill assessments are used to place players evenly among the teams of their age group.
These assessments will also be used for the Stars group selection and the Fall Baseball Season.
In the 15-16 year old age group, teams are formed primarily as 15 yr old and 16 yr old teams, but can be combined. Teams play in the Metro Area Baseball League (MABL).
In the 17-18 year old age group, teams are formed primarily as 17 yr old and 18 yr old teams, but can be combined. Teams play in the Metro Area Baseball League (MABL).
Players must be registered in order to workout or tryout. These are competitive teams which means tryouts are held to determine placement on teams. Players are also invited to attend workouts leading up to the tryouts. Attending workouts is not a guarantee of placement on a team. Players are encouraged to attend as many workouts as possible in preparation for the tryouts. All registered players will be notified of the workout / tryout schedule. Players are not selected for any teams prior to the tryouts.
Players that will be trying out for other programs are encouraged to register with PBA so that they are notified of workout / tryout dates. Any player that is chosen for a team other than a PBA team will be refunded their registration minus any fees, up until the registration deadline. After the registration deadline, anyone that does not accept their placement on a team can request a refund for 50% of their registration. Any player that is not placed on a team (due to a lack of players) will be refunded their entire registration costs.
Papio Bay 4 is the home field for both age groups.
